Week 4
In today's lesson we continued to discuss equipment used in ICT. First we looked at speaking and listening skills and how and when they are needed within the classroom setting.
Speaking and listening:
- Using technology
- Collaboration
- Feedback/reflection
- Discussion
- Shared talking
Talking tins, time cards and photo albums
There are now multiple items with built in microphones such as books and that are used to help children's speaking, listening and creative skills. Talking photo albums can be used to develop creative and story telling skills as well as supporting SEN and EAL students. Talk tins can also be used to support students as well as to develop skills in phonics, diction, music, science etc.
Podcasting
What is a Pod cast?
- Like a radio show - but recorded.
- Can be downloaded.
- People can subscribe to and get direct links and downloads - usually used for hobbies and interests; sports, music.
Pod casts are becoming more and more popular for use in schools. sites such as radio anywhere and audacity give schools and children the chance to have a voice and connect with the world.
Stop motion Animation
Many schools are introducing animation to children at earlier stages of their education. Stop motion animation can be very simple and easy to do and is invaluable in terms of creativity and developing ICT, art and literacy skills.
Here is an example of a stop motion animation made by my sister for her BA degree in animation.
